Our thoughts are passing mental events that can drive our fears, anxiety, depression, and shame (to name a few emotions) to levels that cause significant distress in our lives. This is because what we think, is directly connected to how we feel and behave. Learning the skill of Mindfulness {the ability to become aware of the present moment without judgment or reaction} is clinically proven to repair and "rewire" our brain structure! Studies show a decrease in pain, depression & anxiety with an increase in health, wellness, gratitude, concentration/focus & compassion.
Therapeutic presence can be more important than any treatment modality. Having a nonjudgmental safe and trusting environment to be validated for what you are experiencing will be what facilitates healing and behavioral change. With warmth, empathy, and humor combined with evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, skills are taught to recognize and challenge negative self-talk, regulate extreme emotional responses and develop a plan & the motivation to finally make the changes you want in your life.
